la mamacita loca: la mamacita pequena commends you. you are an excellent blogger. and for la mamacita pequena's absence, she will take thirty lashings. or maybe just take out someone's kneecaps. instead of typing for a very long time, la mamacita pequena has decided to do an update on the past week's events. in two journal entries. one today. one tomorrow.
november 14-
an excellent band engine down, played at a local venue entitled tulagi. la mamacita del fuego and la mamacita pequena were very excited to see this band, but fate had other ideas. the two misjudged the timing of the performance and arrived to find they had missed almost all of engine down's set. alas, it was not meant to be. but the dos mamacitas spoke with cornbread (the drummer for engine down) and he invited them to attend their show the next night for free. la mamacita del fuego and la mamacita pequena were very happy.
november 15-
la mamacita del fuego and la mamacita pequena attended the engine down show in denver at a little venue entitled the climax lounge. do not be fooled. there is nothing climax-y about this venue. the giant disco ball caused many disturbances in the normally sane minds of the concert goers. though la mamacita pequena found it very entertaining to look at the swirly lights on the floor and try to walk straight. she is sure other people were entertained watching her do this. overall, engine down played a very excellent show. la mamacita pequena would like to thank cornbread and the rest of engine down for not only putting her on the guest list, but playing an excellent show.
november 16-
the night of craziness commences . . .
la mamacita pequena and la mamacita del fuego are aquaintances with a band known as brand new that were going to be in the state of colorado that evening. the only dillema? so too playing that very same eve was the icelandic wonder known only as sigur ros. after much debate, the two mamacitas decided to go and see brand new play for free. they arrived only to find that many of the members of brand new also wished to see sigur ros. after much running around to find tickets for a sold out show, there was success. 7 tickets in all were bought and there was a quick dash back to the venue to get jesse (from brand new) back to the show so that he and the rest of brand new may entertain a small crowd for a thirty minute show that included not only music, but a half-naked dancing man on stage as well as a wedding proposal and engagement. after the set was done, six people crowded into la mamacita pequena's small blazer and drove to see sigur ros. they were amazingly beautiful. words cannot describe. if you or anyone you know is able to attend this show - do so. you will not be sorry. if you are sorry that you attended this show, then you are a stupid fool. and don't ever talk to la mamacita pequena again. so la mamacita pequena would like to thank all of brand new as well as casey from iodine recordings for their superb hospitality. so thank you.
november 17-
la mamacita del fuego and la mamacita pequena enjoyed their clean apartment, caught up with friends and mothers, and la mamacita pequena took a nap as she often likes to do. it was well deserved.
